Pipe planning at Realien GmbH

Simple solutions with PipeplannAR

Process environments for every setting

Realien GmbH is a family-owned business founded in 1997 and headquartered in Neckartailfingen, near Stuttgart. In addition to constructing cleanrooms and mobile cleanroom enclosures, the company specializes in creating customized process environments.

Pipe Design Under Challenging Conditions

In its day-to-day projects, Realien frequently works in technical false ceilings. These spaces are characterized by their confined layout and maximized use of space. Such an environment makes it difficult to carry out quick and cost-effective design work, as even modern tools like 3D laser scanners are hard to use in these spaces. Up-to-date drawings are rarely available, so on-site design is the only viable option.

Simple Solutions with PipeplannAR

It is precisely in this context that our software, in combination with the AR headset, reaches its full potential. The user can act with agility, perceive their real-world environment, and incorporate all on-site conditions into their planning. The planner and the customer can see on-site whether the plan fits or if there are any conflicts. PipeplannAR can also be used to create installation instructions, enabling the planned pipe layout to be implemented in reality.

Voice of the Customer

“At this stage of development, designing piping is really fun.”

How did you first hear about PipelannAR?

We came across the application at the JACOB Group booth at Powtech 2022 and have been in contact ever since. I had only seen glasses like these in gaming before and found it exciting to use this technology in a way that adds value to my work. Back then, the functionality was still rudimentary, but the potential of the idea was already obvious.

How did the field test go with your client?

The PipelannAR team came to our construction site, and we carried out the planning together at the technical level. Of course, there were a few teething problems during the first test, but the idea and the principle worked. This field test provided us with valuable information regarding the routing of the required piping.

And what’s next?

We currently have a headset undergoing continuous testing. So as soon as a suitable project comes along, we plan it on-site using PipelannAR. This not only gives us the benefits of the app but also shows our clients that we’re a modern partner. I have to say, at the current stage of development, planning piping is really fun.
