Orca GmbH

The eradication of resistant germs and mould spores is important, particularly in industrial food production. The UVpro circulating-air sterilisers from orca GmbH reliably perform this task. For the manufacture of these sterilisers, the company relies on pipes made by JACOB, which are used to house the devices.

The project

Circulating-air sterilisers from orca GmbH are used in many of the large food production companies in Germany and Europe. A sterilisation technique based on UV light is used to inactivate bacteria and prevent germ accumulation. The equipment is integrated inside stainless-steel pipes made by JACOB, and the UVpro devices sterilise 50 to 850 cubic metres of air per hour, depending on the model. In cool rooms and storage rooms, they are suspended from the ceiling, which means they can also be easily retrofitted. They help improve product hygiene and extend the shelf life of products. During the corona pandemic, the circulating-air sterilisers are also useful in reducing the risk of infection for people working in the rooms. The optimised vortex system ensures that 99% of the bacteria and viruses are killed in just one pass.

The implementation

JACOB stainless-steel pipes with a wall thickness of 1 mm are used in the production of the air sterilisers. The UVpro range includes units of different sizes, which means that longitudinally seam-welded pipes with diameters of 120 to 300 mm and a total length of up to 1 m are used. The pipe sections are fitted with UVpro tubes as well as reflectors and fans. QUICK CONNECT pull-rings, developed by JACOB, are then used to fit view protection slats at the openings.

The unique aspect

The devices have to meet the stringent requirements of the food industry. Only components that do not corrode and are resistant to cleaning agents and water may be used. The large selection of different pipe sections made of 1.4301 stainless steel, and the QUICK CONNECT pull-rings for easy installation were the decisive factors that led to the JACOB pipework system being chosen for the housings.

With the QUICK CONNECT system, the short rings with view protection slats can be quickly fitted and also allow easy access to the inside of the units. JACOB products of various sizes are used, all of which belong to the standard range of 8,500 parts and are therefore flexibly available at short notice. orca GmbH simply orders the products it needs from the JACOB online shop.

The company

orca GmbH is based in Kürten, in Germany, and is a manufacturer of sterilisation systems based on the use of UVC light. The products are available throughout Europe under the brand name UVpro. They are used to treat air, surfaces and liquid media, especially in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
