That's why we are delighted to sponsor both Sentinel Cricket Club and one of its standout players, Robyn Mathews.
As Sales Office Supervisor at JACOB UK, Robyn plays an important role in supporting customers and colleagues. Responsible for processing orders, handling customer enquiries and providing day-to-day support to the Sales Office team, she helps ensure operations run smoothly while maintaining the high standards of service JACOB UK is known for.
Away from work, Robyn's passion for cricket has seen her establish an impressive playing career tht spans more than a decade.
Having first picked up a cricket bat at the age of nine, inspired by her father, brothers and grandfather, Robyn quickly progressed through the Shropshire cricket pathway. By the age of 14 she had made her debut for the Shropshire Women's First Team, and just two years later became the team's captain - at the time the youngest player to ever hold the position.
Since then her cricketing journey has been marked by a series of notable achievements. Robyn has represented Worcestershire Women's First Team, played for the prestigious MCC Women's team, become the highest run scorer for Shropshire Women's First Team and scored a century on her 100th appearance for the county! She has also broken barriers at club level, becoming the first woman to represent both Shelton Cricket Club and Sentinel Cricket Club in First Team cricket.
Today Robyn captains Sentinel Cricket Club's Second Team, balancing her responsibilities as an opening batter with her leadership role. In her first season as captain, she guided the team to promotion, adding another milestone to an already impressive cricketing CV.
Reflecting on what drives her involvement in the sport, Robyn places a strong emphasis on community, teamwork and helping others develop, she said:
"Continuing to enjoy the game with some of my favourite people and seeing junior players grow and develop is what cricket is all about for me."
Those values align closely with Sentinel Cricket Club, a community-focused organisation with a rich history dating back to 1949. Over the decades, the club has evolved through several name changes before returning to its original Sentinel identity in 2016.
Today, the club fields four senior teams, a women's team and a thriving junior section, with more than 100 active members. Competing across multiple divisions of the Shropshire County Cricket League, Sentinel continues to invest in opportunities for players of all ages and abilities, with a particular focus on youth and women's cricket.
The club enjoyed a successful 2025 season, with both the Second and Third Teams securing promotion, while ambitious plans remain in place to further develop its junior and women's programmes. Supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, Sentinel also plays an important role within the local community, hosting social events and creating opportunities for people to come together through sport.
Alongside her playing commitments, Robyn actively contributes to the development of the next generation by coaching junior players and supporting club activities through scoring and umpiring duties. She has also founded the Severn Sapphires, a team that has grown to more than 40 members, further demonstrating her commitment to growing the game and creating opportunities for others.
When asked what makes JACOB UK stand out, Robyn's answer is simple:
"The people who work here and the values the company has."
Those same principles can be seen throughout her cricketing journey and within the wider Sentinel Cricket Club community. We are proud to support Robyn and Sentinel Cricket Club and look forward to following their continued success both on and off the field.
